Freedom From War

Freedom From War and 1320 AM, two forces for positive change in the Davis-Sacramento area, are sponsoring a Week of Peace. The Week of Peace is an educational and entertaining series of events to promote peace, taking place at a variety of locations during the week of October 1- 7, 2006.

THE WEEK OF PEACE PASSPORT
Single-event tickets may be purchased at the door for each event (see prices below), OR for advance ticketing, participants may purchase a WEEK OF PEACE PASSPORT allowing them entry into all of the week's events. ***The entire $50 cost of this PASSPORT will be donated to the peace organization of choice designated by the PASSPORT holder!

The events are as follows:
Sunday Oct. 1 at 5:00-9:30 PM: EVENING OF PEACE
A dinner and awards night at the Cantina del Cabo, 139 G St. in Davis.
Cost: $25/ $15 students. Dinner will be served at 6:30 PM.

Monday Oct. 2 at 7:00-9:00 PM: MOVIE NIGHT
The film Beyond Treason will be shown at the Varsity Theater, 616 2nd St. in Davis.
Cost: $10.

Tuesday Oct. 3 at 7:00-9:00 PM: FREEDOM FROM WAR MEETING
The Board of Directors of Freedom From War will host their Annual Meeting at the Friends Meeting House, 345 L St. in Davis.
Cost: FREE, plus Week of Peace Passport holders receive a free FFW lapel pin valued at $20.

Wednesday Oct. 4 at 7:00-9:00 PM: CANDIDATES DISCUSSION
Congressional candidates from various parties and district will meet and publicly discuss peace issues at the Machinists Hall, 2749 Sunrise Blvd. in Rancho Cordova.
Cost: $10/FREE for students.

Thursday Oct. 5 at 7:00-9:00 PM: MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION
Author and speaker Dave Dionisi will present an Al Gore style slideshow entitled The First Casualty of War is the Truth at the UC Davis ARC Pavillion in Davis.
Cost: $10/FREE for students.

Friday Oct. 6 at 6:00-9:30 PM: LIVE MUSIC AND MIXER
Award-winning songwriters and recording artists Katie Henry and Laura Sandage will team up with contemporary folk duo John Swann and Andrew Corbett to present a casual evening of music and conversation at the Gigabite Cafe, 2427 Marconi Ave. in Sacramento.
Cost:$10.

Saturday Oct. 7 anytime: DIRECT ACTION
Now it's your turn! Do your part by taking action in your own community, as part of a local peace group or as an individual. You can make a difference with your peaceful words and actions. This is a self-directed activity with no scheduled time or cost.

FREEDOM FROM WAR is a non-profit organization based on open source models. Launched by a group of passionate peacemakers, FFW has members in four countries, a growing list of resources on the freedomfromwar.org website, and a host of visionary programs inspired by four basic human freedoms: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from want, and freedom from fear.

AM 1320 SACRAMENTO'S LEFT CHANNEL is a radio station known in the Sacramento region for progressive programming and support of local humanitarian efforts. Current promotional efforts include fundraising for UCD Children's Hospital and supporting the Sacramento Valley Conservancy's work to preserve open spaces.
