Grand Jury Resister Josh Wolf Letter Writing Request

Josh Wolf is an independent journalist and blogger. For refusing to testify and turn over unpublished material to a Federal Grand Jury investigating a July 2005, anti-G8 demonstration. Josh was held in contempt of court and jailed on August 1st. He is presently in federal prison.

Due to the large amount of support Josh has recieved he is currently getting many letters from friends, family and supporters. While he thanks everyone for their support he is requesting that his supporters consider writing to the 12 other prisoners in his unit who are not receiving mail.

* All letters must have a return address on the envelope.
* Please also put a return address on the letter itself, as prisoners are almost never given the envelopes.
* Keep in mind that all mail is read by authorities. Please do not discuss cases, charges or issues relating to either.
* Pictures are allowed, but must be 4x6 size or smaller. No Polaroids.
* Avoid using white-out, stickers, tape, colored ink/paper or glitter.
* Written correspondence and drawings may be in pencil, standard ink pen, typewritten, or computer generated. No felt pens, markers, crayon, or colored pencil, etc.
* All personal artwork must be in black & white, copied pages can be in color.
* PLAIN cards are allowed
* Most facilities do not allow torn pages from books, magazine or newspaper clippings. Photocopies, however, are accepted
* Please remember that, even if unsolicited, mail can still result in sanctions against a prisoner.

When writing for the first time say who you are, and if it's relevant that you're from such and such a group. The first letter can be reasonably short, maybe only a postcard.
Obviously when you get to know people better you'll have more to talk about.
