Seven Easy Ways to Help Create Anarchy!

1. Talk to one person every day about anti-authoritarian political ideas! This is crucial. If we want to bring about revolutionary change, we need to first share our message with potential allies. Neither capitalism nor statism can survive without the consent of at least some of its victims, so if we can convince people to stop participating in their own oppression, the oppressive systems would disintegrate, and a freer world could be built on the ashes of the old order. Most Americans share our libertarian and egalitarian values, but do not have access to important factual information about capitalism, imperialism, and Anarchist theory, and thus they can be easily manipulated by the billion dollar propaganda industry. As long as the American populace remains ignorant about the human costs of American imperialism and global capitalism, and about Anarchist alternatives to the status quo, we will not be able to build a mass based libertarian socialist movement. To combat ignorance about these tremendously important political issues, we must share our ideas with people; we must arm people with knowledge, and invite them to liberate themselves.

2. Stop paying taxes and purchasing nonessential items from corporations. Currently, oppressed people are financing their own exploitation and oppression, by paying taxes to oppressive governments which protect the interests of the wealthy, and by purchasing nonessential goods from corporations which are stealing our natural resources, exploiting our fellow workers, and destroying the our environment. Stop financing your own oppression and the oppression of other human beings! Then, you won't have to work as much, and you'll be able to devote more time to activities that you actually find enjoyable and meaningful. You can donate excess money to worthy charities, and spend your excess time working on activist projects. Chances are, you'll have a lot more fun, and you'll be doing a great service to the project of liberation. To find out how to live without financing oppressive institutions, visit www.freegan.info, and read the book Evasion by the CrimethInc collective. To learn more about tax resistance, read Civil Disobedience by Henry David Thoreau.

3. Confront authority in your daily life. Don't ever let other people control your life. If your freedom is being restricted, liberate yourself, by any means necessary. Unite with other oppressed people to abolish the oppressive force. Also, make sure that you're not letting any one else control your mind. Follow your dreams and passions, regardless of what other people think. For more information on taking control of your mind and your life, see the www.fuckauthority.org texts Urgent: Your life is being stolen and Against Dogma and Belief.

4. Unite in solidarity with other oppressed people to work for liberation. You can do almost anything if you have a large group of people working together. For instance, a large number of workers can take control over a corporation if they act in unison, and a large number of shoplifters can loot thousands of dollars from corporate stores to give to them economically disadvantaged! In addition, almost any law can be overturned if enough people refuse to obey it. For instance, take the problem of anti-marijuana laws. If we want to do away with these laws, it would be easy. Everyone in the country who wanted anti-marijuana legislation abolished (a large portion of the population, no doubt: 40% of American adults have used it at one time or another) could simply agree to be seen possessing marijuana by government official on a specific day. If everyone in the country who opposed anti-marijuana laws were to do that, then the laws would be effectively unenforceabe, as the state simply does not have the resources to imprison such a large portion of its domestic population. The same strategy will work for overthrowing many other forms of oppression as well.

5. Participate in alternative, mutual aid economies, and nonhierarchical, noncoercive community organizations. If you have institutions in your community which are working to create the new society in the shell of the old one—organizations such as Food Not Bombs, or worker-owned industries—then support them, and offer any help you can. If you don't have organizations such as these in your area, then create them with your friends! These organizations are crucial to the advancement of our movement, as we must have alternative, nonhierarchical, noncoercive institutions to replace the coercive and hierarchical ones, when the revolution finally is brought about. For more information, visit www.foodnotbombs.net.

6. Develop your own strategies for creating Anarchy! Anarchy is not a spectator sport, nor is it about following directions. Improvise, come up with your own tactics and strategies, and share these ideas with others! This is the only way our movement will thrive.

7. Never give up the fight. If you want to obtain true liberation, you can't give up the fight. If other activities start to take precedent over the liberation struggle, ask yourself, are these things really more important than my freedom, and the freedom of future generations, and the lives of millions of people who will be murdered if we don't overthrow the state-capitalist system soon?
